The political temperature is hot due to the name of a minister behind the scenes in the game of taking possession of four bighas of land near Bainara Factory in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. On the other hand, the minister’s brother-in-law has been proved to be a land mafia in the investigation of Jones Mill scandal. The brother-in-law had sold 305 square meters of government land for Rs 62 lakh on the basis of possession.
In the history of Agra, the biggest scam of more than 100 bighas of land worth Rs 2596 crore took place in Jeevani Mandi. On 29 July 2020, there was an explosion in the mill to take possession of the land. After which the then DM Prabhu N Singh got the investigation done for six months by a team of eight officers.
In this, it was revealed that the heirs of Munnilal Mehra, Hiralal Patni and Gambhirmal Pandya, partners of George Anthony John, owner of Jones Mill, had embezzled government, Nazul, canal, municipal corporation, police and leased land. During investigation, minister’s brother-in-law Sardar Kanwaldeep Singh along with Rajjo Jain alias Rajendra Prasad and Hemendra Aggarwal alias Chunmun were found to be land mafia. The police sent the minister’s brother-in-law to jail.
SIT was formed to investigate the involvement of other people. After this, under the influence of those in power, the investigation was transferred to the Economic Offenses Wing. The investigation has been stalled for almost two years. The land mafia got the protection of many honorable people in the Jones Mill incident. In return, the land mafia distributed land as gifts to the honorable people. The investigation was suppressed even before the names of the honorable people were made public.
